Multnomah Monthly meeting is inviting Bridge City Friends Meeting to participate in this blended (Zoom and in-person) event. See Multnomah’s website for required Covid protocols if you wish to attend in person.

A basic history of local indigenous tribes, settler land theft, treaties, and reservations, presented by Carl Abbott and Theresa Deibele. Learn from our own members about the people indigenous to this land, the consequences of white resettlement and their subsequent relationship to the government of the United States. This is the first of four monthly educational presentations to prepare us for the discussion of the minute regarding right relationship with indigenous people at the July NPYM annual session.
In April, Paula Palmer (Friends Peace Teams) will lead us in learning about the involvement of Quakers in the attack on indigenous culture. In May, a panel will discuss contemporary Native-led movements. On June 5, we will hear from David Lewis, a native scholar with deep understanding of local tribes.
