Discernment on FCNL’s position on reproductive health care and abortion
Friends are invited to a gathering to provide input to the Friends Committee on National Legislative (FCNL), our national Quaker advocacy organization, on reproductive health care and abortion. The gathering will be held by zoom on Sunday, April 2 from 3:30-5:00. It will be co-facilitated by Barbara Segal and Joanne Warner.
Historically FCNL has not taken a position on abortion because the Society of Friends is not in unity on this issue. Since the overturning of Roe vs Wade, FCNL heard concerns from Friends around the country about their lack of position around the issue of abortion. FCNL has asked for Friends input about what FCNL should say about reproductive health care and abortion in their policy statement. The policy statement is the foundational document outlining FCNLs broad policy positions and informs their legislative priorities and advocacy.
We hope that you will join us for this important discernment. If you are going to participate, we request that you prepare by reading the information about the discernment on the FCNL website. It can be accessed at:

Thank you to the Peace and Justice Committee for reaching out to Barbara Segal and for Barbara’s and Joanne Warner’s willingness to lead this discernment for Bridge City and Multnomah Meetings.
The Zoom link will be sent closer to the event.
