Joyce Ajlouny, General Secretary of the American Friends Service Committee, will offer a prepared message during worship on Sunday, March 5th at West Hills Friends. (westhillsfriends.org). All are welcome to attend. Worship begins at 10 a.m. Light snacks and fellowship time with Joyce will follow. Masks are required while singing, but otherwise optional at West Hills.
Joyce Ajlouny joined AFSC in 2017 as the first Palestinian American General Secretary. Joyce is a third-generation Friend and a member of the Ramallah and Bethesda Monthly Meetings. Prior to joining AFSC, Joyce worked in international development in Palestine, focusing on minority and refugee rights, gender equality, economic development, and humanitarian support. She also served as the Head of the Ramallah Friends School in Palestine for 13 years. The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) was founded in 1917 to provide conscientious objectors of all faiths with an alternative to military service in WWI. Today, AFSC operates programs across the US and around the world with a focus on three strategic goals – just and sustainable peace, just economies, and just responses to migration.
